How to Wear a Velvet Dress Three Ways

Today is more picture heavy than I normally do but I wanted to share some fun ways I wore three different velvet dresses, holiday party ready! Velvet has been such a big trend this season, and depending on your style, I may be wearing a velvet dress that is perfect for you. The first is strapless, the second is sleeveless, and the third is long sleeve. Since some of the dresses are selling out, I linked a few similar options at bottom of post if you are on the hunt for a velvet piece.how to wear a velvet dressStrapless Velvet Dress | Burgundy Strappy Bow Platform Heels | Black Velvet Choker | Gold Cuff | Velvet Clutch, only $26!

If you are a lover of velvet, why not go crazy with it and pair velvet with velvet with velvet? When I scooped up these burgundy velvet platform heels (half off right now!) I couldn’t wait to wear them, so finding this strapless dress I knew I had to pair them together for fun. Searching for accessories to pair with the look, I thought ah why not go all the way and have a velvet party, so I grabbed my velvet clutch and velvet choker for an all out fun look. I mean does this not scream party ready?how to wear velvet dress from office to partySleeveless Velvet Dress: Old Navy (similar) | Gold Jacquard Open Front Jacket | Gold Leather Booties: Topshop (almost exact/similar) | Gold Y Chain Necklace | Black Clutch: The Limited (similar, only $25!)

Now this velvet dress is actually sleeveless but I decided to pair it with this gold embroidered jacquard jacket that just screams holiday. What’s great is you can still wear alone or if you wanted to take velvet to the office, this look is perfect. The dainty necklace doesn’t take away from the jacket since that is the statement piece but is a nice touch if you wanted to take off the jacket. I went with boots for this look to change it up from heels but this outfit can easily transition from the office with heels to happy hour with the gals after work switching into boots.

Last but not least, this long sleeve velvet winner of a dress is perfect for keeping you somewhat warm since the legs are exposed. However it can still be paired with tights to help with more warmth. In Texas it is not extremely cold yet so I can easily get away with wearing this long sleeve number around town. I wanted to show off the sleeves for this look so I went with a statement necklace and faux fur clutch. I wanted to look chic but casual for this outfit so I decided to go with flats that don’t scream casual if you know what I mean. This open back loafer trend is hot right now as well and these loafers didn’t break the bank (only $25 on sale!) so I went for it. If you want to go to a holiday party but hate to be in heels all night or simply want to switch into flats later, you have yourself the perfect outfit. express burgundy velvet bow platform heelshow to wear a dress and ankle bootshow to wear zara long sleeve velvet dresshow to wear velvet for fallexpress silver leather slip on backless loafersold navy velvet swing dresshow to style a long sleeve velvet dressvelvet dress outfit inspirationold navy gold jacquard open front jacketbauble bar velvet tied chokerzara long sleeve velvet dresszara black velvet strapless mini dresshow to wear embroidered jacket to workhow to wear velvet for holiday

  1. Can you believe that before this season I didn’t own anything velvet?! And now I am obsessed and have several velvet pieces in my closet. I love that you styled so many different velvet trends into such different looks. The festive holiday dresses are gorgeous as are the velvet heels and the classic LBD with flats. Adore all these outfits! xoxo, Christine
